Libyan rebels sweeping westwards

Rebel forces in Libya have made rapid progress as they push towards the capital Tripoli, with another town captured in the last few hours.

They seized the eastern coastal towns of Ras Lanuf, Brega and Uqayla after pro-Gaddafi forces - under pressure from allied air strikes - withdrew.

Their advance has been helped by coalition air strikes which have wiped out much of Colonel Gaddafi's heavy weaponry.

Ben Brown reports.
