Ivory Coast: UN air strikes ordered to stop Gbagbo
The UN Secretary General has ordered peace keepers in the Ivory Coast to use "all means necessary" to stop Laurent Gbagbo from using heavy weapons.
The call from Ban Ki-moon comes after UN and French helicopters were seen firing rockets at his residence in the country's main city of Abidjan. Mr Gbagbo's spokesman says the incumbent president's residence has been partially destroyed.
The UN's Ivory Coast spokesman, Hamadoun Toure, said further action could be taken following an assessment of the destruction so far.
