Senior Libyan army officers abandon Col Gaddafi's forces

Eight senior Libyan army officers have appeared on Italian television to announce their defection from Colonel Gaddafi's forces.

Their appearance came as the South African president, Jacob Zuma, returned home after talks in Libya.

Mr Zuma reiterated that Colonel Gaddafi is ready to accept a ceasefire, but not to stand down.
