'$300m needed to tackle Somalia famine'

The United Nations has formally declared that famine now exists in parts of Somalia.

Up to 10 million people are affected by the drought in the Horn of Africa.

The UN's humanitarian co-ordinator for Somalia, Mark Bowden, estimated that Somalia needed $300m (£186m) in aid over the next two months.
