Libya uprising: Bani Walid assault 'on hold'

Seven anti-Gaddafi fighters have been killed and 10 wounded in a fierce battle for the town of Bani Walid, one of the few areas in Libya that remains loyal to the fugitive former Libyan leader.

The fighters say they were betrayed by local people who claimed to be on their side and led them into an ambush.

But the BBC's Richard Galpin, who is near Bani Walid, says that the assault on the town appears to have been put "on hold" in anticipation of Nato air strikes, some of which may already have taken place.
