Libya conflict: Interim fighters advance on Sirte

Libyan interim fighters have begun a massive assault on the city of Sirte, one of the last Gaddafi strongholds.

Hundreds of vehicles have advanced on the city from both the east and the west and are close to the centre.

Jonathan Head, based with fighters on the western side of Sirte, said pro-Gaddafi fighters in the town "are still resisting. We've had shots flying right over our heads, it's extraordinary".
