Libya: Sirte receiving 'heavy shelling'
Anti-Gaddafi forces are shelling loyalists in a small area of the city but are facing stout resistance.
The BBC's Wyre Davies said that the interim authority troops have a fire-power advantage, but there is no indication that the fighting will soon be resolved.
The head of Libya's interim government Mustafa Abdel Jalil has reportedly appeared in the city.
The National Transitional Council says that once Sirte falls, they will declare Libya to be fully liberated.
