Nigeria's Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's publishing dream

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie is one of Africa's best-known contemporary fiction writers.

She shot to fame with her first two novels, The Purple Hibiscus and Half of a Yellow Sun, both set in her native eastern Nigeria.

The 34-year-old writer has been awarded the Commonwealth Writer's Prize, the Orange Prize and a $500,000 (£320,000) MacArthur Foundation "genius grant".

She divides her time between Nigeria, where she teaches creative writing workshops, and the United States, where she currently holds a one-year research fellowship at Harvard University.

During a book-reading event in London, she told the BBC's Network Africa's Sharon Hemans that she wishes her country could have a better publishing industry so that writers would not have to go elsewhere.
