Hillary Clinton in Libya visit to support democracy

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has travelled to Libya on an unannounced visit aimed at showing support for the Libyan people and building ties.

Mrs Clinton held talks with top officials from the NTC - Chairman Mustafa Abdul Jalil, Prime Minister Mahmoud Jibril and Finance Minister Ali Tarhouni.

She is the first US cabinet-level official to visit since Col Muammar Gaddafi was ousted.

She said the US offered support to all those who "believe in democracy" and said people must renounce violence and give up arms.
