Gaddafi death: 'He has faced his fate'

Libya's ex-leader Col Muammar Gaddafi has been killed after an assault on his home town of Sirte, the transitional authority's acting prime minister says.

Speaking in London, the Libyan Ambassador to the UK said Gaddafi had "faced his fate" and praised the "martyrs" who gave their lives to fight the Gaddafi regime.

He said the death would lead the way to "a very promising future (for Libyans) where they can finally start building a free democratic state".
