Lockerbie: My brother Megrahi was 'a sacrifice'

Abdelbaset al-Megrahi's brother, Mohamed, has insisted that his sibling was not to blame for the Lockerbie bombing, but was used as a "sacrifice" by the Gaddafi regime.

Megrahi, who died on Sunday at the age of 60, was the only person convicted over the 1988 plane blast which killed 270 people.

Suffering from cancer, he was freed from jail in Scotland in 2009 on compassionate grounds and returned to Libya.

His release sparked the fury of many relatives of the victims, but the Libyan intelligence officer always denied any responsibility for the bombing.
