Robert Mugabe meets UN human rights chief Navi Pillay

United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay has urged Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe to ensure the upcoming elections will be free and fair.

It was Ms Pillay's first visit to Zimbabwe at the invitation of the government.

She said she commended the president for making a call that there should be no violence in future polls.

Elections must be held before next year according to the power-sharing deal that Mr Mugabe made with Zimbabwean Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai.
