Nairobi fast commuter train arrives

Kenya's first new train service and station in some 80 years have been officially opened by President Mwai Kbaki.

The commuter station in the suburb of Syokimau, and the fast service running between it and the city centre, are part of the country's 2030 development project.

It is hoped the train will help ease congestion in Nairobi, one of Africa's fastest-growing cities, taking around 15 minutes to cover the 10-mile (16.5km) route in comparison to the two hours or so it can take in a car at peak times.
