Kenyatta: 'Triumph of democracy'

Presidential poll winner Uhuru Kenyatta has hailed Kenya's elections as a "triumph of democracy".

Speaking shortly after his victory was announced, the Kenyan deputy prime minister also appealed to those he had beaten to unite for the good of the country.

Mr Kenyatta won 50.07% of the vote on a turnout of 86%, narrowly avoiding a run-off ballot.

But main rival Raila Odinga alleged massive vote-rigging and said he would challenge the results of the poll in the Supreme Court.
