Somaliland backs international intervention in troubled Somalia

Somalia and Somaliland have been attending reconciliation talks brokered by Turkey, which is trying to extend its influence in the horn of Africa area by helping diplomatically and giving aid.

Somaliland broke away from the rest of Somalia in 1991 but while it has been far more stable than its southern neighbour, its independence has not been internationally recognised.

Its President, Ahmed Silanyo, spoke to the BBC's Mark Doyle about relations with Somalia.
