Somali president: 'The time to help Somalia is now'

Somalia's President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has told a press conference that the time to help his country is "now".

UK Prime Minister David Cameron is co-hosting a conference in London with Mr Mohamud to help the East African state rebuild itself.

The meeting follows similar conferences last year amid growing international concern that Somalia has turned into a haven for al-Qaeda-linked militants.

Mr Mohamud said it was a critical time for Somalia as it emerged from "a long period of chaos".
