Ngugi wa Thiong'o, and his son Mukoma on family and writing
One of Africa's most influential writers, Kenya's Ngugi wa Thiong'o, and his son Mukoma wa Ngugi, also an author, are participating at the Royal African Society's annual festival of African literature and writing in London.
Ngugi wa Thiong'o, known all over the world for his novel The River Between, announced in the late 1970s that he would not write in English anymore, to concentrate on doing so in his mother tongue, Kikuyu, or in Swahili.
His son is a poet, novelist and scholar. When they visited BBC Africa, Sophie Ikenye started by asking Mukoma how close they are.
