Kerry: 'Terrorists can run but they can't hide'
Secretary of State John Kerry has said two raids on Islamist militants in Libya and Somalia showed the US was determined to hunt down those responsible for terrorism.
Speaking on the Indonesian island of Bali he said: "We hope that this makes clear that the United States of America will never stop in its effort to hold those accountable who conduct acts of terror".
He added that the action should also make clear that "those members of al-Qaeda and other terrorist organisations literally can run, but they can't hide."
In Libya, US commandos captured al-Qaeda leader Anas al-Liby who is accused of the 1998 bombings of the US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania.
A leader of the al-Shabab group was also targeted in southern Somalia, but that raid appears to have failed.
