CAR PM: 'More troops needed'

Prime Minister Nicolas Tiangaye has said more troops are needed to stabilise the Central African Republic, where rising violence between Muslim and Christian militias continues to claim lives.

France is increasing its presence in the CAR to 1,600 troops and the AU has announced its troop contingent will rise to 6,000, but the prime minister said this "was not enough".

Speaking to the BBC, he also described the situation in the town of Bossangoa as "a major worry".

At least 394 people have died in three days of fighting in the capital Bangui alone, according to the Red Cross.
