US announces sanctions ahead of South Sudan talks

The US has announced sanctions against individuals on both sides of the conflict in South Sudan, where violence has flared in the past few days as government forces try to take back the key oil town of Bentiu.

Meanwhile, both the country's president and the opposition leader have told the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon that they will attend peace talks scheduled for Friday.
