Meriam Ibrahim: Husband unaware of Sudan release

The husband of a woman sentenced to death in Sudan for abandoning Islam, has said reports of her release are just "rumours".

Meriam Ibrahim, 27, refused to renounce her Christian faith and faces hanging for apostasy.

The sentence sparked international outrage, and a Sudanese official was reported to have said she would in fact be freed in a few days.

However, Daniel Wani, Ms Ibrahim's husband, told the BBC nobody had contacted him about her release.
