Ebola outbreak: Death toll passes 5,000

The World Health Organisation says the number of deaths from Ebola has now risen to more than 5,000.

The WHO suggests that the number of new cases may be slowing down in parts of Guinea and Liberia, leading the agency to believe the fight to contain the disease is having an effect.

But it says the number of new cases is still rising steeply in Sierra Leone.
