Possible coup as heavy gunfire erupts in The Gambia

Heavy gunfire has erupted near the presidential palace in The Gambia's capital, Banjul, reports say.

The Gambia's President Yahya Jammeh says his forces have foiled an attempt to overthrow him.

The fighting was reported while President Jammeh is abroad.
