Equatorial Guinea: Inequality sees 'poverty thrive'

Ten years ago, Equatorial Guinea had one of the fastest growing economies in the world.

In a country whose president, Teodoro Obiang, is thought to be one of the richest men in Africa, the wealth does not appear to be trickling down.

Speaking to the BBC, the Secretary General of the opposition Convergence for Social Democracy Party Andres Esono Ondo said: "Development must benefit everyone, not just the people close to the president."

All efforts by the BBC to get an official reaction have failed, but in the past, the government has always rejected these allegations.
