Nigerians abandon streets in fear of election violence

As Nigeria eagerly awaits the results of this weekend's elections, people across the country are feeling apprehensive.

Post election violence killed over 1000 people in 2011 and a repeat is something everyone is desperate to avoid.

The two main contenders signed a peace accord just days before the election, urging their supporters to accept the result without violence.

The northern Nigerian city of Kano was one of the worst hit in 2011, from where the BBC's Abdullahi Kaura Abubakar reports.
