Karachi colony makes living by scavenging waste site

Surrounded by disease and infection, a group of about 3,500 residents of the Pakistani city, Karachi, make a living out of scavenging waste.

Residents of Goth Umer Kot separate glass, bones, cardboard, plastic and iron, and sell it to six brokers who work in the area.

There is one doctor available to treat the community and a school that opens for three hours a day.
