Burma makes promise of progress to William Hague

British Foreign Secretary William Hague is making a landmark visit to Burma - the first such since 1955 - marking a new phase in relations between the country and the outside world.

After several meetings with leaders, Mr Hague has said he is assured the political reform in the country is irreversible, comments echoed - with caution - by opposition leader Aung San Sui Kyi.
