Clinton leaves China without activist Chen Guangcheng

The US secretary of state Hillary Clinton has left China with the fate of civil rights activist Chen Guangcheng still unresolved.

China says he can leave the country and the Americans say they will welcome him. But he is still confined to a hospital in Beijing.
