Prince William makes speech at Singapore state dinner

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have been formally welcomed to Singapore on the first day of their tour of South East Asia and the South Pacific.

The prince, at a state dinner, praised the commitment and fortitude of the Queen.

He described the Diamond Jubilee as "a celebration of the Queen's exceptional dedication over 60 years".

Earlier, the couple viewed an orchid named after the Duke's late mother Diana, which she never had a chance to see.
