Foxconn halts production at plant after mass brawl

Foxconn Technology, a major supplier for Apple, has halted production at a plant in northern China after a fight broke out - apparently in a workers' dormitory.

Foxconn confirmed that a "personal dispute" escalated into an incident involving about 2,000 workers, injuring 40 of them.

However, comments on a Chinese microblogging site suggested the fight broke out after security guards beat a worker.

Foxconn has previously been accused of having poor conditions for its workers.

Martin Patience reports.

This report contains footage uploaded to YouTube. The BBC cannot verify this footage, but believes it was filmed at Foxconn's facility in Taiyuan, China, and that the material was uploaded near to the time that the unrest took place.
