Burma's Thein Sein open to Aung San Suu Kyi presidency

Burmese President Thein Sein has said he "would accept" the pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi as the country's president, if the people backed her.

In an interview with the BBC's Hardtalk programme, he said that he was working with her, and that there were "no problems" between them.

Ms Suu Kyi, was detained for 15 years by the previous military government, for campaigning peacefully for democracy. Moves towards reform in Burma since her release has led to an easing of sanctions against the country.
