Burma: 'Entire neighbourhood has simply vanished'
The campaign group, Human Rights Watch, has said it has documented what appears to be the total destruction of one of the districts affected by ethnic violence in western Burma. It says most of the inhabitants were Muslim Rohingyas.
But ethnic Rakhine Buddhists say they have also been victims of the violence, which according to the Burmese authorities, has claimed at least 64 lives in a week.
The United Nations has warned that Burma's reforms are under threat from the continued unrest.
The BBC's Jonathan Head said it seemed that an entire neighbourhood had just vanished.
