Suu Kyi pleads for tolerance over Burma violence

Burma's opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi has urged tolerance in response to a wave of ethnic violence in the west of the country, but has refused to take sides.

In recent months, violence between Muslim Rohingyas and Buddhists in Rakhine state has forced 100,000 from their homes.

''Both sides are displeased because I will not take a stand with them, but my stand is that first let us establish rule of law,'' she told the BBC.
