China editorial warns North Korea over nuclear test threat

North Korea's only major ally China has threatened to cut the economic aid it gives the country if it goes ahead with a third nuclear test.

The threat was made in an editorial in a influential Chinese newspaper.

It follows appeals from China for moderation yesterday, as North Korea responded defiantly to tougher UN sanctions.

The BBC's Martin Patience in Beijing says he thinks the warning is significant.
