South Korea and US 'taking North Korea threats seriously'

South Korea and the US are taking threats from North Korea seriously, says the BBC's Lucy Williamson in Seoul.

In recent weeks, the North has ramped up its rhetoric and made specific threats to target US territory.

North Korea has also deployed a second missile on its east coast.

"Noone knows what Pyongyang's real intentions are. But North Korea does have military drills going on at the moment.

"It may be that this is gesture politics, or it may be a sign of a more serious intent," Lucy Williamson told the BBC.
