Suicide bomb attempt thwarted in Afghanistan

Afghan security forces have defused an alleged would-be suicide bomber's explosive vest while he was still wearing it, preventing an attack in Jalalabad in eastern Afghanistan.

Provincial police chief Mohammad Sharif Amin said the man was walking near young people playing cricket when he was was apprehended by security forces.

He confirmed the man was a citizen of Pakistan and is under investigation.
