Economy dominates Australian election TV debate

The economy dominated exchanges between Prime Minister Kevin Rudd and opposition leader Tony Abbot in their televised election debate.

The candidates faced an hour of questioning from a panel of journalists in the capital, Canberra.

Sunday's debate was the first of three such possible meetings before the 7 September polling day.
