Rent rises displace Burma's poor in Yangon

Rent increases have forced thousands of poor families out of their homes in Yangon, the commercial capital of Burma, also known as Myanmar.

In the last two years, prices have doubled and even tripled in some parts of the city.

A lack of state support means destitute families have to rely on improvised housing offered by charities to prevent them from going homeless.
