Philippines typhoon: 'Iron sheets flying just like kites'

Typhoon Haiyan, one of the strongest storms on record, has made landfall in the Philippines.

Winds blowing at 235 km/h (146mph) have battered the central islands of Samar and Leyte.

Fallen trees have blocked roads, roofs have been torn from houses and communications and power supplies have been disrupted.

Mai Zamora from the charity World Vision is in Cebu in the central Philippines.

She told the BBC that colleagues had described seeing "galvanised iron sheets flying just like kites".
