Typhoon Haiyan: How much aid does the Philippines need?

Large parts of the Philippines have been left shattered and desperate by the winds and storm surge of Typhoon Haiyan.

In the disaster zone, many are becoming hungry and desperate, officials say, as the wait goes on for much-needed food aid and emergency supplies.

The UN says more than 11 million people may have been affected and some 673,000 displaced by Typhoon Haiyan.

Some aid is getting through, but the scale of the effort needed to keep everyone fed, clothed and healthy is hard to comprehend - a fact confirmed by the numbers behind the story.
