Thai rice row sparks rural discontent

Thailand's general election is set to go ahead on Sunday, despite threats of an opposition boycott.

Demonstrators that have occupied parts of the capital Bangkok argue that the prime minister is corrupt - with the government's rice purchase scheme just one issue of concern.

Many farmers who took part in the scheme and backed the government have found themselves in debt because they have not been paid, as the BBC's Jonathan Head reports.
