Poor Indonesians swap rubbish for healthcare

A 24-year-old Indonesian doctor recently won the Prince of Wales Young Sustainability Entrepreneur Prize for a scheme which tackles two major challenges facing his country - access to healthcare for the poor, and the problem of overflowing waste.

Dr Gamal Albinsaid came up with idea of a system where people bring their waste to clinics as payment for health care services after hearing how the daughter of a rubbish scavenger died from diarrhoea having no access to the most basic healthcare.
