New branchless banking scheme piloted in rural Indonesia
According to Bank Indonesia, nearly half of the country's 240 million strong population does not have access to financial services.
Now, some of the country's big banks are piloting a new scheme known as 'branchless banking' as a way to expand financial services to rural areas.
The scheme allows people to save, transfer money, and pay bills all through a local shop.
BBC Indonesia's Christine Franciska reports.
