BJP victory 'transcends creed and race' - president

The opposition Hindu nationalist Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is on course for a landslide victory in the Indian elections.

Although final results are not expected until later, the scale of the predicted victory is such that the ruling Congress party has admitted defeat.

Speaking at a news conference the BJP president Rajnath Singh said they had transcended "caste, creed, race".
