Afghanistan's Kabul airport attacked by gunmen

A gunfight between Afghan police units and insurgents who attacked Kabul International Airport has ended.

Afghan officials said all of the gunmen were killed with one security official wounded.

The attack, which the Taliban has claimed responsibility for, started just after dawn when militants are believed to have used a car bomb to gain access to the airport..

Insurgents then occupied an empty building and used it as a base to launch a rocket attack.

The BBC's Karen Allen reports from Kabul.
