Afghan elections audit: Ghani withdraws 'reluctantly'

The UN-supervised audit of votes in the disputed Afghan election to find a successor to Hamid Karzai has been suspended for now, officials say.

Presidential candidates Abdullah Abdullah and his rival Ashraf Ghani have both claimed victory. Both have also alleged widespread fraud and withdrawn observers from the audit.

A spokesman for Mr Ghani, Daoud Sultanzoy, told the BBC their decision to withdraw from the process had been made "reluctantly".
