HK protesters disrupt Beijing official's speech on poll

Pro-democracy protesters in Hong Kong have disrupted a speech by a Beijing official who was explaining how new voting procedures will be introduced for the city.

They chanted slogans and held placards accusing Beijing of breaking its promise to allow Hong Kong to choose its leader directly.

On Sunday, the Chinese government ruled out open nominations of candidates for the chief executive election in 2017 - effectively giving Beijing control over the choice of candidates.
