Afghanistan's Ashraf Ghani sworn in as president

Ashraf Ghani has been sworn in as Afghanistan's president in a ceremony after six months of political deadlock over the country's disputed election result.

The Kabul ceremony followed a US-brokered unity deal which saw Mr Ghani appointed president and his rival, Abdullah Abdullah, installed in the new post of chief executive chief executive.

The inauguration marked the country's first democratic transfer of power.
