On the fault line of Hong Kong's democracy debate

Many of Hong Kong's seven million residents have been deeply divided over the pro-democracy protests over recent days.

The protests have been the largest and most dramatic since the former British colony returned to Chinese rule in 1997.

The scale and youth of the movement have captured the world's imagination, but some residents who consider themselves older and wiser have watched on with scepticism.
