AirAsia QZ8501: 'We do not know where the plane is'

The aerial search for an AirAsia plane that vanished on Sunday has been suspended for a second day, with nightfall over the Java Sea.

One Indonesian official said he suspected the aircraft was at the bottom of the sea but there has been no evidence to back that up.

The Airbus A320 disappeared with 162 people on board during a flight from the Indonesian city of Surabaya to Singapore.

Indonesia President Joko Widodo said he had authorised a search but the whereabouts of the plane were unknown.
